Climeworks: Achieving global recognition for a world-first technology

Sector: Carbon removal and carbon capture
Region: DACH

Client

Climeworks

Climeworks empowers people and companies to fight global warming by offering carbon dioxide removal as a service via direct air capture (DAC) technology.

The challenge

Climeworks had a big year ahead and needed a full-service communications agency to create and deliver a PR strategy.

They wanted to ensure that the world would start reading headlines about negative emissions technologies and recognise Climeworks as an authoritative voice in this space.

The solution

We divided this campaign into three phases: Blueprint, Construction and Operation.

We started by delivering a brand workshop to help establish a clear and consistent brand identity which then enabled us to produce comprehensive brand guidelines and a visual identity. Then, we engaged with the media by organising a press launch event to unveil the world’s first carbon dioxide removal plant for commercial operation.

The results

We were able to gain impressive media coverage on a global scale. This includes media recognition as ‘the trendsetter’ for carbon capture dialogue in The Washington Post and being the 6th most-discussed topic on Reddit on 5th June 2017.
